LIEAP: Low-Income Energy Assistance Program
The Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) assists families by paying a portion of their home heating energy bills with a federally funded benefit. LIEAP applications are accepted during the winter months (January to March).
Households must meet certain eligibility requirements including income level, being responsible for the home’s heating bill and having proof of payment history.
Benefit amounts depend on a variety of factors including income, number of people living at the address, type of dwelling and the type of heating fuel.
